Class Descriptions

 

Gentle yoga
A slow variety of preparations and poses that free the joints and relax the system, a good choice for those with stiffness and soreness, injuries and spinal curvature or discomfort, or just wanting a mellow, nurturing experience, flowing to soothing music.

Moderate yoga
Paced for an intermediate experience of warm ups and postures and incorporating more standing postures with some challenge. A mix of mellow and energizing, and an over all well rounded class.

Vigorous yoga
A more challenging posture flow that is stimulating and warming to the body, (not heated room), coordinated with breath that incorporates some holdings. Postures are available for someone with previous experience, flowing to upbeat, inspirational music.

Hatha yoga
A slow variety of preparations and poses, focusing on the coordination of breath and movement to focus the mind and relax the system, a good choice for those with anxiety and stress, or just wanting a mellow, nurturing experience, flowing to soothing music.

Yoga/Pilates fusion on the mat
Combines yoga’s wisdom and awareness of opening the spine, moving from the core, and breath, aligned with some pilates form and structure. This class is good for those wanting to incorporate more awareness into their yoga, for strength, flexibility, and consciousness, and very good for those with back issues

Sunrise yoga and Agnihotra (healing fire ritual)
The time of sunrise and sunset are auspicious times when the ability to tap into the subtleties of life and its rhythms are greatest. It is the part of the day where you will have the deepest reward from a yoga and spiritual practice. Sunrise yoga is a wonderful foundation for your day and a yoga tradition. Chair yoga
For people with limited mobility, balance and gait, a subtle, yet powerful experience of yoga’s healing tools and techniques adapted seated comfortably in a chair.Well suited for those with auto-immune conditions like MS, arthritis and more. Scholarships for those with MS.

Integrative yoga therapy
a subtle, yet powerful experience of yoga’s healing tools and techniques.

Restorative yoga nidra, deep relaxation and guided meditation
Some yoga poses coordinated with breath to prepare the body for guided imagery, deep relaxation and mediation or focused attention. Yoga nidra’s rotation of consciousness provides deep rest and relaxation, purifies the brain and is rejuvenating and healing on all levels of the body, mind and spirit.

Tap Dance
A fun warm up prepares you for learning steps that are woven together into daily combinations. A variety of musical styles. Occasionally improvisation may also be included. All levels welcome. Individual class levels will form as needed

Chaya brings her expertise of ayurvedic healing and yoga therapy to tailor for individual needs into all classes and sessions. All are also available privately.

Yoga Therapy
Sessions begin with a postural evaluation, constitutional and conditional assessment, client intake and evaluation.

Yoga Therapy is a Holistic and therapeutic application of Yoga and Ayurveda, offering guidance that is specific for you and your individual needs. Whether it’s structural alignment, movement without pain, developing strength, flexibility, relaxation, breathing techniques and meditation, or creating your own home practice, sessions are tailored to meet your individual goals and needs.

Chaya specializes in modifications that will help you in your practice and create safety in your own body. Treat yourself therapeutically with Yoga and learn to tap into your body’s inner wisdom in order to manage injury, make clear decisions about your health or gain a deeper sense of peace and ease of well-being.

Personal Yoga Instruction Study Basic Hatha Yoga; the physical discipline of Yoga postures, breathing techniques and meditation. Appropriate for all levels.

Pilates Mat helps to increase awareness of movement, abdominal strength, muscular control and capacity, joint flexibility and the power of the mind/body connection. Routines can be adapted to be gentle enough for beginners or sophisticated enough to challenge the superfit. A thoughtful approach to working out.
